1955 The first DS19, (75hp SAE) hydraulically operated gearbox, hydropneumatic suspension, power-assisted disc brakes, and power steering. 1956 Paris Motor Show ID19, mechanical gearbox, marketed in May 1957. Normal (63 bhp) and Luxe (66 bhp). 1958 DS Prestige with driver partition and ID19 estate. 1959 Engine ventilation grilles in the front wings. 1960 The DS Convertible. 1961 A more powerful (83hp SAE) engine new a dashboard layout. 1962 A more streamline radiator grille, without the ventilation grilles in the front wings, rubber over-riders on front and rear bumpers. 1964 The DS19 Pallas. 1965 The DS21 (109hp SAE) and the DS19A (90hp SAE) automatic headlamp correction device to counter the suspension changes. New radiator, XAS Michelin tyres. 1966 A new mineral fluid for the hydraulic system, the LHM replaced LHS2. 1967 New front wings with four recessed headlights, two of them swivelling with the direction of the steering. 1968 DS20 replaces DS19A. ID20 replaces ID19. 1969 Electronic fuel injected DS21 (139hp SAE), 3 dial dashboards, DSuper replaced ID20, DSpecial replaced ID19. 1970 Mechanically operated 5 speed gearbox on DS21's. 1971 A more powerful engine on the DS 20. An optional automatic Borg-Warner gearbox on the DS 21. 1972 Carburettor and electronic fuel injected DS 23's. 1974 Manufacturing stopped April 24th after 1,445,746 fine examples. |
